Thanksgiving
On Thanksgiving Day, Rev. Tom Johnson and The Neighborhood Academy Basketball Team prepared and served a traditional Thanksgiving meal at Rainbow Kitchen. Bar Louis at the Waterfront also prepared a Thanksgiving feast for our vaolunteer to deliver to low-income seniors. A special thanks to Allegro Hearth Bakery for their generous donation of an abundance of goodies for Thanksgiving dinner.
20 families also participated in the annual Max Starks and His Home Team Thanksgiving Celebration.
Christmas
On Christmas Day Staff and Board members prepared and served our annual Christmas Day meal. We would like to thank all those who helped make this day a “Merry Christmas”! Our Christmas Day meal guests received gifts of toiletries and other necessities.
Other holiday activities included: coat distribution, KDKA Turkey Fund gift cards, and turkey and holiday basket distribution. 44 families were adopted through our Adopt-a-Family holiday gift program. Additionally 40 seniors who participate in our food pantry program were also adopted through Adopt-a-Family. More than 100 children of pantry families received holiday gifts.
