Rainbow Kitchen Community Services has been a strong and reliable source of assistance for people in need since 1984. Today, our help is needed more than ever! The families and individuals we serve, many still struggling to recover from the effects of a 2+ year pandemic, have been further devastated by rising inflation and a high cost of living that makes already-tight budgets impossible to stretch any further.
Our Food Pantry Program has seen a significant and ongoing increase in participation since the beginning of the pandemic, and we are experiencing a new surge now, as the rising cost of food and other basic needs strikes yet another blow to the low-income people we serve. Most of our newer clients are seniors, or families with children. The Rainbow Kitchen Food Pantry served 120 more households in the month of November 2023 (440 households) than in November 2022 (320 households) – a 37.5% increase!
All of us at Rainbow Kitchen remain committed to maintaining the high level and quality of service we provide, even as the need for assistance continues to grow, and critical resources – including food and monetary donations – have been adversely affected by the back-to-back crises of the pandemic and the current economy. And of course, we too, are experiencing the impact of inflation, with rapidly rising costs for food, program supplies, utilities, etc.
With your help, Rainbow Kitchen provides a vital safety net for hungry children, struggling families, low-income elderly and disabled individuals, and people who are homeless, unemployed, or among the working poor.
