Since 1984, Rainbow Kitchen Community Services has been a strong and reliable source of aid for those in need – and today, our help is needed more than ever! In these troubled economic times, Rainbow Kitchen provides a vital safety net for hungry children, struggling families, low-income elderly, ill, and disabled individuals, the homeless, and growing numbers of people who are unemployed or among the working poor.
Last year, Rainbow Kitchen provided 16,000 nutritious Kids Café dinner meals to low-income children at risk of hunger, and served an additional 17,000 substantial hot meals to our Breakfast program participants. We distributed 300,000 pounds of supplemental groceries and non-food essentials to families in need through our Food Pantry program, and provided additional supportive services, including crisis assistance, short-term and extended case management, benefiting an average of 200 households a month.
As the poor economy persists, we continue to experience significant increases in all aspects of our programs and services. We remain committed to maintaining the high level and quality of service we provide, even as the need for assistance continues to grow.
