In these troubled economic times, Rainbow Kitchen Community Services helps to provide a vital safety net for hungry children, struggling families, low-income elderly, ill, and disabled individuals, the homeless, and growing numbers of people who are unemployed or among the working poor.
Last year, Rainbow Kitchen provided more than 18,000 nutritious Kids Café dinner meals to low-income children at risk of hunger, and served an additional 18,000 substantial hot meals to our Breakfast program participants. We distributed close to 150,000 pounds of supplemental groceries to families in need through our Food Pantry program, and provided additional supportive services, including crisis assistance, short-term and extended case management, benefitting an average of 200 households a month.
We dream of the day when our services are no longer needed – but we’re not there yet! Since 1984, Rainbow Kitchen has been a strong and reliable source of aid for those in need, and we remain committed to our mission of working to improve the quality of life for low-income individuals and families through programs that address hunger, child nutrition, and supportive services.
